1. 5 - S THE MANTRA FOR WORK PLACE EFFICIENCY
To continuously improve one self and become self-sufficient, workplace is the most essential source. Workplace efficiency starts with the way the workplace looks. A clean, neat, orderly and well maintained workplace which individuals take pride in is a basic requirement for achieving results.
To achieve this objective, workshops are conducted for the entire staff of HITAM. The significance of efficient maintenance of the premises, library, technical lab, IT lab, other facilities and administration office is explained to all the participants. Projects are identified and teams are formed to continually work on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the college.
2. Kaizen (Continual Improvement Projects)
To achieve the vision of the college effectively and efficiently, action teams are formed with each team focusing on a project. A Japanese technique called Kaizen (Kai - continual, Zen - improvement) is used to achieve the set targets of the projects.
Kaizen is an achievement oriented working methodology adopted by people at all levels in an organization with respect to their own activity, and of the action teams to attain Kaizen (continual improvement) in their operational results.
The action teams comprises of academic as well as non-academic staff based on the nature of the projects -
Each team identifies its areas of work and develops an action plan for the semester. They then make a plan based on 5W1H (What, Why, Who, Where, When and How) principle and execute it. Constant perusal helps maintain the tempo of all the programmes.
