The ideal engineering student should constitute five characteristics -
- Academics and Research - being interactive and enthusiastic in the classroom, actively taking part in assignments, projects, paper presentations, seminars and internships, sharing knowledge with other students and learning from them in return - are all a part of academics and research.
- Wide range of knowledge - an ideal student should be inquisitive and curious. Knowledge about a wide array of things is a necessity. He should specialize in his course subject, but, he should also have awareness about all other issues.
- Health and Fitness - only a healthy body can be the house of a healthy mind. The ideal students should be active at sports and related activities to keep himself fit and refreshed, at all times.
- Extra-curricular activities - networking and actively taking part in activities other than academics not only helps students in refreshing himself but also in bringing out the best in him and networking with like-minded people. The ideal student should have all-round ability.
- Culture and Tradition - without healthy regard for his/her culture and tradition, no student can be ideal. Respect towards elders is a top priority. Loving what one is doing and putting all his/her interest into it also are required. This does in no way mean that the student should be averse to technology or modernisation.
Please note that we are at all times stressing more on trying and performing to your best capability rather than plainly on results. The ideal engineering student is not a Utopian state to be achieved. It is a philosophy embodied by the student.
